The Canons of the Bible

Michael D. Coogan

The contents of the Bible differ depending on the particular community in which it is in use. The major difference is between Christian Bibles, which include the New Testament, and the Jewish Bible, which does not. But there are also differences between the Hebrew Bible in Judaism and the Old Testament contents and order in Christianity, and there are differences among Christians about the contents of the Old Testament (see chart).
