1and the death of the giants, wherever the spirits have gone out from their bodies, 1 ENY ‘from their souls’; MQTUD′ corrupt or defective. their flesh shall be destroyed before the judgement; 2 In the days … the judgement: Gk.a corrupt, but perhaps translate ‘From the day of the slaughter and destruction and death 〈of the giants〉 the spirits, having gone out from the souls of their flesh, will destroy without judgement’; Gk.s ‘And from the day of the time of the slaughter and destruction and death of the giant Nephilim, the mighty ones of the earth, the great famous ones, the spirits that have gone out from their souls as from the flesh, will destroy without judgement’. thus they will be destroyed 3 Gk.a s ‘they will destroy’. until the day of the great consummation is accomplished upon the great age, 4 Gk.a s ‘until the day of the consummation, (Gk.s adds ‘until’) the great judgement in which the great age will be brought to an end’. upon the Watchers and the impious ones. 5 upon the Watchers and the impious ones: Gk.a s om., but Gk.s adds ‘once for all at the same time it will be brought to an end’; GQTUD′ add ‘all will be accomplished’, and GQT make further additions. 2And now to the Watchers who sent you to petition on their behalf, who were formerly 6 Gk.a om. in heaven – 3and now 7 and now: Gk.a om. say, You were in heaven, but its secrets had not yet been revealed to you and a worthless mystery you knew. 8 Gk.a (corrupt) ‘but every mystery which had not been revealed to you and a mystery which was from God you knew’. This you made known to the women in the hardness of your hearts, and through this mystery the women and the men cause evil to increase on the earth. 4Say to them therefore, You will not have peace.
