1And he said to me, O Enoch, look at the book of the 1 O Enoch … the book of the: Eth.I ‘Look, O Enoch, at these (D′ ‘the’)’. tablets of heaven, and read what is written upon them, and note every individual fact. 2And I looked at everything in 2 everything in: MQTUD′D′ a om. the tablets of heaven, and I read everything which was written, and I noted everything. And I read the book and everything which was written in it, all the deeds of men, and all 3 GD′a ‘the book, all the deeds of men, and all’; MT ‘the book of all the deeds of men, and of all’; D′ ‘that book, and all the deeds of men, and all’; U defective. who will be born of flesh on the earth 4 who will … earth: lit. ‘the children of flesh who will be on the earth’. for the generations of eternity. 3And then 5 GMTUD′D′ a om. And in the second year they will take you from among them. 7Let your heart be strong, for the good will proclaim righteousness to the good, the righteous will rejoice with the righteous, and they will wish each other well. 8But the sinner will die with the sinner, and the apostate will sink with the apostate. 9And those who practise righteousness will die 15 D′D′ a2 ‘will not die’. because of the deeds of men, and will be gathered in 16 and … in: D′ ‘they will be gathered in’; D′a(?) ‘but they will be hidden’. because of the deeds of the impious. 10And in those days they finished speaking to me, and I went to my family, as I blessed the Lord of the ages. 17 GMTUD′D′ a ‘of the world’.
