Text Commentary

1And I said to them, Behold, my children, I do not know where I am going or what will become of me. 2And now, my children, do not turn away from God, but live your lives in the Lord's presence, and keep his judgements; and do not refuse 1 B ‘lessen’; R ‘make odious’. the sacrifice of your salvation, and the Lord will not refuse 2 BR ‘cut short’. the labour of your hands. 3Do not deny the Lord his gifts, and the Lord will not deny you his possessions in your storehouses. 4Bless the Lord with the firstborn of your flocks and herds, and you will be the blessed of the Lord for ever. 5Do not turn aside from the Lord, nor worship idols, who have made neither heaven nor earth: may the Lord confirm your hearts in the fear of him. 6And now, my children, let no one look for me until the Lord returns me to you.
