1Now, children, observe the commands I give you, for what I have heard from my fathers I have told you. 2I am innocent of all your ungodliness and of the sin 1 Lit. ‘transgression’. you will commit at the end of time against the Saviour of the world, acting godlessly, leading Israel astray, and stirring up against it great evils from the Lord. 3And together with the rest of Israel you will sin against the law, so that he will not bear with Jerusalem 2 Or ‘so that Jerusalem will not bear it’. because of your wickedness, but will tear in two the temple veil 3 Lit. ‘garment’. so as not to cover your shame. 4And you will be scattered as captives among the Gentiles and be 4 So b: II adds ‘there’. a reproach and a curse 5 So II-gm: b gm om. ‘and a curse’. and be trampled under foot. 5For the house which the Lord will choose shall be called Jerusalem, as it stands written in the book of the righteous Enoch.
