1Quite spent were those who milked the cows, for the milk 1 So SV: P om. ‘the milk’. V has several significant divergences, both here and elsewhere, in this chapter. streamed on the mountains; and the butter was spread over my paths. 2And my cattle were so numerous that they were folded among the rocks and the mountains because of those in labour. 3So it was that the mountains were drenched with milk and became like solid butter. 4My slaves who cooked the widows' food grew weary. 5And, with scant regard for the poor, they called down curses on me, saying, Would God we were full of his meats – 6whereas I was being more than ordinarily kind.
