1The other daughter, called Cassia, said to him, Father is this the inheritance you were saying was better than our brothers’? What is the use of these strange cords? How can we live on them? 2And their father said to them, Not only will you be able to live on 3them; but these cords will lead you to the greater world – to life in the heavens. 4Surely, children, you cannot be unaware of the value of these ropes? The Lord thought me worthy of them on the day when he willed to have mercy on me and to cure my body of the diseases and the worms. 5He called to me and supplied me with these three cords, saying to me, Arise, gird up your loins like a man: I will question you, and do you answer me. 6I took the cords and girded myself; and immediately, from that very moment, the worms disappeared from my body, and so too did the diseases. 7And after that my body received strength through the Lord, as though it had not suffered anything at all. 8And I even forgot my distress of mind. 9And the Lord spoke to me in power, showing me what has been and what will be. 10Consequently, my children, with these cords you will never now have the Enemy arrayed against you nor even his thoughts in your hearts, because it is the Father's 1 So P:SV Slav. ‘the Lord's’. amulet. 11Get up, then, and gird them round you before I die, so that you may be able to see those who are coming for my soul and marvel at God's creatures.
