Text Commentary

1I said to him, Tell me, what can you do? He said, I can move mountains and transport houses and throw down kings. 2And I said to him, If you can, lift this stone up to the highest point of the corner of the temple. He said, Not only will I lift this stone up, O king, but with the help of the demon in the Red Sea I will lift up also the airy pillar that is in the Red Sea, and you can set it where you will. 3And, saying this, he slipped in underneath the stone, and he lifted it, and mounted the steps carrying the stone, and placed it at the top of the entrance to the temple. 4I, Solomon, said in elation, Truly now has been fulfilled the scripture that says, The stone that the builders rejected, this became the head of the corner – and so on.
