Text Commentary

1And when the time came for the child to be born she was seized with pains; and she cried aloud to the Lord and said, Have mercy on me, Lord, and help me. 2But she was not heard and God's mercy was denied her. 1 Lit. ‘was not around her’. 3And she said to herself, Who will tell my lord Adam? I implore you, luminaries of heaven, on your way back to the east, bear a message to my lord Adam.

Notes:

1 Lit. ‘was not around her’.
