Text Commentary

1For behold, the time is coming when the books will be opened in which are written the sins of all who have sinned, and also the treasuries in which are stored the records of the righteous deeds of all created beings who have been righteous. 2And then you will appreciate 1 Lit. ‘see’. (and many with you) the patience of the Most High in every generation; for he has been ever patient with all men, both with those who sin and with those who are righteous. 3And I answered and said, But behold, Lord, no one knows how many are the things that are already past, nor how many there are that are yet to come. 4For I know only too well what has happened to us, but what will happen to our enemies I do not know; nor do I know when thou wilt visit thy works.

Notes:

1 Lit. ‘see’.
