Text Commentary

1But you, Baruch, must apply your mind to what has been said to you, and understand the visions that have been shown you; for many eternal consolations await you. 2For you will depart from here, and leave behind you the scenes now so familiar to you; and you will forget these corruptible things and have no recollection of what happens among mortals. 3So go and give your people their orders, and come back to this place; and afterwards fast seven days, and then I will come to you and speak to you.
