1And Adam answered and said, Listen to me my sons. When God made us, me and your mother, and placed us in Paradise, and gave us every tree that bears fruit to eat, he laid a prohibition on us concerning the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that is in the middle of Paradise, saying, Do not eat of it. 2And God gave a part of Paradise to me and a part to your mother: the trees of 1 Some MSS read ‘the authority over’. the eastern part and the north he gave to me, and he gave the south and the western part to your mother.
