Text Commentary

1And after six days came Adam's death, just as the archangel Michael had foretold. 2When Adam realized that the hour of his death was near he said to all his sons, Behold, I am nine hundred and thirty years old; and after I am dead bury me towards the sunrising † in the field that belongs to the house over there†. 3And it came to pass, when he had finished speaking, he breathed his last. Then was the sun darkened, and the moon and the stars also, for seven days.
