The Oxford Illustrated History of the Bible A richly illustrated account of the story of the Bible written by leading scholars.

Epilogue

John Rogerson

Several of the preceding chapters have dealt with contemporary interpretations of the Bible, in particular those dealing with feminism, European liberation theology, and interpretation in Latin America and Africa. The aim of the present chapter is to return to the academic scene and to outline the changes that have taken place in the past thirty years in biblical scholarship. These changes have brought much vitality to the discipline; but they have also introduced a good deal of confusion, which this chapter will attempt to sort out. It will end by discussing the phenomenon of so-called postmodernism.
