The English translation of several Hebrew and Greek nouns which denote reflection and intention. Paul speaks of the mind of Christ in willingly accepting human limitations (Phil. 2: 5), and of himself as having the spirit of Christ (1 Cor. 2: 16). Paul's readers are exhorted to have a similar disposition of humility and a concern for others. But it has to be a mind ‘transformed’ and renewed (Rom. 12: 2), for left to itself the human mind is far from good (Rom. 1: 28). Mind is not, in Paul, the higher or more estimable part of a human being.
