A list in Latin of NT books dating from the second part of the 2nd cent. in an 8th‐cent. MS discovered by Lodovico Antonio Muratori in 1740. It is usually held to be the earliest known list of writings accepted by the Church as normative. The total of twenty‐two books omits Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter, James, and 3 John, but includes the Wisdom of Solomon and the Apocalypse of Peter (a 2nd‐cent. work with a description of heaven and hell, not eventually accepted by the Church).
