Fishing nets could be either let down (Luke 5: 4) from a boat, or cast (John 21: 6), or thrown from the shore (Matt. 4: 18). The drag‐net (Matt. 13: 47) which collected a variety of species of fish (there were twenty‐four species in the Sea of Galilee) would have been weighted at the bottom, with the top held up by floats.
