Or ‘mystery’, something hidden which should be made known (as Dan. 2: 29–30). In the teaching of Jesus, parables are that which discloses the secret of the Kingdom to believers; but the parables are only riddles to those outside (Mark 4: 11). In the epistles of Paul, the ‘mystery now revealed’ is the good news of Christ (Col. 2: 2) to the Gentiles (Eph. 3: 8–9).
