Source:
Oxford Biblical Studies Online What is This? This Glossary provides brief definitions of terms related to the Bible and biblical studies.

    Adar

the twelfth month (February–March) in the Jewish year. In order to bring the lunar calendar into alignment with the solar year, a leap year, in which there are two months of Adar, occurs seven times during each nineteen‐year cycle of years (see p. 2114). This added month is called either ʾadar sheni,“second adar,” or veʾadar,“and adar.”
