A high official of Pharaoh (Gen. 39: 1). The patriarch Joseph prospered in Egypt and was promoted in the household of Potiphar. Potiphar's wife accused Joseph of sexual harassment and he was temporarily imprisoned (Gen. 39: 6–20).
