A port on the coast of Phoenicia where Elijah was given accommodation by a widow; he supplied her with food and restored her dying son to life (1 Kgs. 17: 8–24). The event is recalled by Jesus (Luke 4: 25–7 where AV uses ‘Sarepta’).
