Sunday; the day of resurrection. Its sole occurrence in the NT is at Rev. 1: 10, when John the Seer was ‘in the spirit’. It is used in the Didache near the end of the 1st cent. when reporting Eucharistic gatherings. Weekly celebrations of the Eucharist were possibly the normal practice in Pauline congregations (1 Cor. 16: 2) and Sabbath (Saturday) observance was not encouraged (Gal. 4: 10; Col. 2: 16).
