The god of Moab for whom Solomon built a high place (1 Kgs. 11: 7) which Josiah later destroyed (2 Kgs. 23: 13). A stela dedicated to Chemosh by King Mesha of Moab was discovered in 1868 with cultic language similar to that of Israelites for Yahweh.
