The region now known as N. Sudan and called Ethiopia (so NRSV in 2 Kgs. 19: 9) by classical authors. Moses married a wife from Cush (Num. 12: 1), much to the indignation of his sister. Its inhabitants often visited Palestine (Acts 8: 27).
