There was a big difference between the furniture of Solomon's palace (1 Kgs. 7: 7) and the simple and sparse furniture of a Palestinian household where only the essentials for eating, sleeping, and sitting were provided—perhaps also a lamp (2 Kgs. 4: 10). The Upper Room (Mark 14: 15) probably contained nothing else apart from vessels for the Passover. The command to the paralytic (Mark 2: 9) was to pack up his pallet and pile it against the wall at home.
The furniture of the Temple is described in 1 Kgs. 7: 48–50.
